Witness to Crash Assists in DWI Arrest of Off-Duty Cop
A witness to a hit-and-run
accident in Queens followed the driver and called police, leading to the DWI arrest
of an off-duty police officer, the NYPD said Saturday.
Officer Aaron Sanchez was
arrested at 11:30 p.m. Friday after his car collided with a vehicle at the
intersection of Northern Boulevard and 50th Street, authorities said.
Sanchez allegedly drove away
from the accident scene, but was followed by a witness who contacted police.
Sanchez, who was driving his
own car at the time, was charged with DWI and leaving the scene of an accident,
police said.
