Des Moines police officer charged with OWI
A Des Moines police officer has
been charged with an OWI after failing a sobriety test, police department
officials confirm.
Sgt. Jason Halifax told the
Register that officer Taylor Olsen, 23, had been arrested after being pulled
over Wednesday morning.
KCCI reported that while off
duty, Olsen had been pulled over near Highway 5 while going 20 mph over the
speed limit in a construction zone.
After failing a sobriety test
Olsen was charged with an OWI but was not booked in the Polk County Jail.
According to Halifax, Olsen
will be placed on administrative reassignment until an internal investigation
is completed.
Halifax said Olsen has been
with the department since August of last year.
