NOPD officer suspended after alleged domestic abuse involving strangulation
NEW ORLEANS, (WVUE) -
The New Orleans Police Department has placed one of
its officers on emergency suspension without pay after a Public Integrity
Bureau investigation into allegations of domestic abuse.
The investigation began on January 27 after the PIB
received a complaint. Carter was placed on administrative reassignment on May
25.
Monday, the Orleans Parish District Attorney's Office
filed a bill of information on Carter for criminal charges relative to domestic
abuse battery involving strangulation and domestic abuse battery.
The PIB investigation is ongoing.
Carter is a 10-year veteran of the NOPD. He was most
recently assigned to the Special Operation Division Tactical Unit.
