Worcester police officer accused of rape pleads not guilty
WORCESTER, Mass.
(MyFoxBoston.com)— A Worcester police officer accused of raping a women while
on duty last year pleaded not guilty on Monday, officials said.
Officer Rajat Sharda, 32, was
charged with rape, open and gross lewdness, witness intimidation and larceny.
He pleaded not guilty to all charges.
Sharda allegedly exposed
himself to the woman and sexually assaulted at the Bancroft Tower in Salisbury
Park last August, officials stated. He allegedly also stole her bed comforter
and threatened her and her family if she told anyone about the incident.
Sharda was arrested on February
3 and was put on paid administrative leave. He was also ordered to turn in his
passport.
Sharda was released on
$7,500 bail and is scheduled to return to court on August 8.
