TYSONS, Va. (WKRC) - An officer allegedly lost his gun at
an entertainment center, leading to a teen girl shooting it under the belief it
was a prop.
According to information from the Fairfax County Police
Department , a police captain lost his firearm while playing a game at Level99,
an entertainment center with a large variety of mental and physical games for
adults.
A 14-year-old girl reportedly discovered the weapon and,
believing it to be a prop, discharged the firearm. Luckily, nobody was struck
or injured in the accidental shooting, police said. The teen reportedly
requested medical assistance, but was just treated at the scene.
Authorities did not reveal how much time passed between
when the captain lost his gun and when the teenager shot it.
No charges were filed against the officer by the city or
attorney's office. His department said that he will not face repercussions at
work because he was off the clock and the gun was his own.
