“It’s becoming a disturbingly familiar scene in America - mentally unstable cops”

As remarkable as this…

Fairfax County Board Chairman Jeff McKay has actually stood up against the Fairfax County Police by pausing the installation of new stationary Flock automated license plate recognition (ALPR) cameras.

McKay cited increasing privacy concerns shared in “hundreds of emails” by Fairfax residents.

“Public safety and public trust go hand in hand, and as such, Fairfax County must join this broader conversation as well,” McKay said on Monday.

While according to McKay the 84 licensed stationary Flock ALPRs in Fairfax County’s program were used in a transparent manner and subject to a number of guardrails, he acknowledged the privacy concerns with regard to data collection and moved that the Board of Supervisors direct FCPD to pause the installation of any new stationary Flock ALPRs,

McKay also asked for more information from private users like homeowners’ associations and commercial property owners to get a fuller picture on how the technology is used by private citizens and businesses.

In the end, the cops will funnel campaign contributions around under employees names and they’ll get their camera….think I’m wrong?

Watch and see.

Oh grow up....

At some point, the remaining members of the media that continue sucking up to the Fairfax County Police has to end. It’s the ethical and professional thing to do. Nobody, anywhere, ever wants the media in a romance with the police. Its unethical and its dangerous.

Yet we have Maggie Roth, an associate editor for Northern Virginia Magazine, who should know better, penning an adoration article about a police department that has systematically murdered citizens and abused the law  (Please, please, please, let me know if you want the evidence to back up that statement)

Her article is on “new technology to streamline procedures and speed up police response time.”…one of them being drones.

Drones, in the hands of an irresponsible and reckless quasi-politics police force like the FCPD is dangerous. They’ve abused their weapons, they’ve abused the power of arrest, morally they’ve fired at least six member of the force in the past 12 years for sexual crime….what is there to make us believe they won’t abuse drones?

But is that mentioned in this gushing piece on the many wonders of the FCPD?

Nope.

Maggi Roth needs to mature a bit before she’s allowed to run around calling herself a journalist.

Do you tryst the Fairfax County Police to gather and keep your driving data? Well, they are, and their is nothing you can do about it

Fairfax County, VA — Fairfax County Police officers recently utilized license plate reader (LPR) technology and a drone to locate wanted suspects, recover a stolen vehicle, and make multiple arrests. In three separate incidents, officers acted on real-time alerts from Flock Safety LPR cameras to quickly identify and locate vehicles connected to criminal activity. (From the FCPD)

The Fairfax County Police lack the discretion, intelligence, restraint and integrity to have LPR’s….we’re talking about a police department that a few years back shot a guy through the head…. for gambling….so its not like these guys above mass surveillance.

The Fairfax Police can’t say enough good things about LPR’s, but across the country hundreds of grass root campaigns are trying to get them banned form their towns and states, and for good reason.

Do you trust the Fairfax County police not to weaponize the data they collect?

Do you trust the Fairfax County police, who have minimal oversight of day to day policing chores,  not to share the information they gather from LPR’s…on you and your neighbors…..with federal government ?
