The Napa County District Attorney’s Office has filed four misdemeanor charges against a Napa police officer involved in a solo crash on Monticello Road near Napa on May 4, according to court records.
Sean Ulitin, 37, allegedly had more than twice the legal alcohol content when his Ford F-250 pickup truck crashed north of Vichy Avenue at about 9:40 p.m., according to court records.
Prosecutors are charging him with driving under the influence; driving under the influence with a .08 percent alcohol content or higher with special allegation; obstructing a police officer, and hit and run, according to the complaint filed Wednesday in Napa County Superior Court. A hearing is scheduled for Tuesday.
Ulitin made an “unsafe turning movement” on Monticello Road before he crashed on May 4, according to court records. The truck hit a tree, rolled over and landed on Volkswagen Jetta parked in a driveway before coming to a rest, according to witnesses. Neighbors reported people tried to detain Ulitin after they helped him out of the vehicle.
Ulitin allegedly fled the scene on foot, according to a California Highway Patrol court filing. Ulitin was stopped after he was found running in a driveway, according to the filing.
Ulitin allegedly displayed signs of alcohol intoxication, according to the CHP. He was arrested and booked into the Napa County jail on suspicion of driving under the influence, according to the jail logs. He was released a few hours later.
Napa Police Capt. Jeff Troendly said Thursday that Ulitin is on administrative leave with pay
