This doesn’t include a case earlier this year of an officer under investigation for shooting at a fleeing vehicle after a chase was called off when police found out there was an infant inside of it. Huntsville AL has settled a lawsuit for $500,000 to a man who was shot three times by a SWAT team during a wrong-door raid in search of that man’s nephew. Police say they shot him because he was armed and wouldn’t drop his weapon but the homeowner disputed that account. [3]

And finally, I was undecided about adding this report at first until some more recent details about what happened came out. Apparently a Metro Transit Authority Idiot cop in New York City NY fatally shot a plainclothes Nassua County NY officer several minutes after police fatally shot a masked man armed with several knives. Reports so far say the officer, who lives near the shooting scene, is distraught about what happened and opened fire when he saw the officer walking towards the scene with a rifle at his side shortly after he arrived to investigate what was happening. Certainly a sad mistake, but the accounts are reading as if the officer didn’t announce himself or give the other officer a sufficient chance to disarm before firing. We’ve seen an increase in friendly fire fatalities in our research so far and are left wondering if the focus on officer safety above all else is so intense that it’s now putting other officers at risk along with the general public. McKean County PA apparently kept a $30,000 settlement secret since June of last year. The settlement was made to a WWII veteran who was 86-years-old when he was roughly arrested by the McKean County sheriff in an incident that was captured on video and ended up on YouTube. The Mount Laurel NJ police department is part of a lawsuit that includes county prosecutors alleging they falsely arrested and prosecuted a man for having locked and unloaded legal firearms in his trunk. The suit alleges that the city is negligent by keeping the officer on the force despite an alleged history of excessive force and off-duty violence. The suit also apparently alleges that the officer did a “victory dance” after the shooting. [3]

A former Crescent City FL police officer admitted that he was a life-long pedophile and that he believes he molested anywhere from 200-300 young girls throughout his life during his sentencing hearing attended by at least four of his victims. He was sentenced to 25 years in prison on just 2 counts of molestation. While it’s not clear if the charges he was sentenced for involve activity that occurred while he was a police officer, his confession appears to indicate that some of his victims were molested while he was an officer.
