ATLANTIC COUNTY — An Atlantic
County judge has revoked the pension of a 32-year-old former Egg Harbor City
police officer convicted of official misconduct on Tuesday.
Superior Court Judge Michael A.
Donio signed an order forfeiting Steven Hadley's public position and any
pension rights, Atlantic County Prosecutor Jim McClain said.
Hadley pleaded guilty to one
county of second-degree official misconduct. The Port Republic resident is
expected to receive a five-year suspended sentence, according to
PressofAtlanticCity.com.
In exchange three other counts
of the same charge were dropped.
Hadley agreed to the deal just
before the case was to be presented to a grand jury. Hadley will be sentenced
on Nov. 21, McClain said.
Hadley became a police officer
in 2003 and was scheduled to be paid $75,953 in in 2013, public records
indicate.
The officer was paralyzed on
Sept. 24, 2013 when his pickup truck slammed into a tree on the side of the
Garden State Parkway. That's the same day Hadley was charged by the Atlantic
County Prosecutor's Office.
He is also named in a lawsuit
filed by one of the four women with whom allegedly had a sexual relationship.
The woman also sued Egg Harbor and its police department, claiming they had
knowledge of his abuse of power .
Hadley has not admitted to
having sex with the woman who sued him, the Press reported.
