Warwick officer involved in off-duty crash resigns

A rookie Warwick police officer involved in an off-duty car accident has resigned amid questions about why the initial police report left out allegations that the officer drank alcohol and texted on his cellphone before the crash. Zachary Davis, 31, resigned from the force Feb. 10 after being suspended in connection with the head-on crash in Warwick on Dec. 17. Davis’s resignation was first reported by WPRI-TV this week. Two other officers were suspended in connection with the police report, which was later changed to add that Davis acknowledged drinking alcohol and texting just before the accident. No one was injured in the crash
