The role of media in a free society is to question and then report

Fairfax targeting drunk drivers today

Fairfax County police will set up a sobriety checkpoint Saturday as part of the "Checkpoint Strikeforce" campaign to target drunk drivers.

The state-wide campaign began 10 years ago, and police say it's worked: alcohol-related fatalities have dropped 23 percent in Virginia since 2001

WHO SAYS SO? THE COPS? WHAT ELSE DO YOU EXPECT THEM TO SAY? SOBRIETY CHECK POINTS ARE A THREAT TO A FREE PEOPLE? OF COURSE THEY'LL SAY ITS A SUCCESS......

BUT WHAT ABOUT IN FAIRFAX COUNTY? WHAT ARE THE STATS?

More than 32,000 people were arrested for drunk driving in Virginia in 2010, and more than 29,000 were convicted.

HOW MANY PEOPLE DRIVE IN VIRGINIA? WHAT PERCENTAGE HAS BEEN ARRESTED FOR DRUNK DRIVING?

WHAT PERCENTAGE WERE ARRESTED HERE IN FAIRFAX COUNTY

7,770.000 people in the state
5,400,000 licensed to drive

0.005% of the population has been convicted of drunk driving...justify the expense and use of man hours

Question, don't accept. The policeman is not your friend. Cops lie. Question what they tell you. Its the sacred role of the media.

But Fairfax police say there's more work to be done, since about 19 people a year die in drunk-driving-related crashes in Fairfax every year.

PROVE IT......
