Florida Cop Fired for Misconduct With Woman He Arrested

Officer Robert Gebhardt terminated after internal affairs investigation.
A Gainesville police officer has been fired after an internal affairs investigation found he had sex with a 19-year-old woman he arrested for shoplifting.
The Gainesville Sun reported Friday that investigators found that Officer Robert V. Gebhardt visited the woman in jail, then tried to find her at a home where drugs were known to be sold. Chief Tony Jones signed the termination order Oct. 24, citing violations of policies on insubordination and immoral, unlawful or improper conduct.
She made the allegations in May to officers with the agency's Drug Task Force during an investigation into drugs and human trafficking. Records show the woman has a history of prostitution and drug use.

Police say Gebhardt gave her his cell phone numbers and said he'd like to take her out.
