Amite police officer accused of kidnapping, rape, television station reports

An Amite police officer has been accused of kidnapping and sexually assaulting two women in Tangipahoa Parish, a Baton Rouge television station reports. The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office arrested Grant Carruth, 25, Tuesday (Sept. 30) on charges of second degree kidnapping, aggravated rape, sexual battery, and theft, according to a story on WBRZ.com.
Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff Daniel Edwards said Carruth is accused of arresting two women while posing as a narcotics agent and forcing them to perform sex acts before releasing them, the television station. The Sheriff's Office said in a news release the incidents allegedly happened Aug. 11 and Sept. 20.

Deputies said the women identified Carruth as their attacker, the story said.
