CHESHIRE, Conn. (WTNH) — A former Cheshire police officer is facing the other side of the law today.
46-year-old Jay Markella was arrested and charged with stealing almost $21,000 from the police union.
He’s been charged with Larceny.  If convicted he could face up to 20 years in prison and/or a $15,000 fine.

Markella served as the treasurer for the union he allegedly stole from.  He resigned from the Cheshire Police Department in September of 2013.
